Issue 1 would use seriousness of the alleged offense to determine the amount of cash bail. This contradicts the constitutional prohibition of excessive bail and presumption of innocence. Seriousness, past records, and likelihood of returning to court should all be considered when determining whether to set bail or not, but never to determine the amount. Using it set the amount allows the wealthy to purchase their freedom, while punishing the poor. We recommend voting No on Issue 1. — 2022 Election Recommendations

Issue 2 would prohibit municipalities from determining who is allowed to participate in their local elections. This would violate the American principles of limited government, decentralized power, and home rule. The State of Ohio should have no authority to dictate to local governments who is or is not permitted to participate in their civic life. We recommend voting No on Issue 2. — 2022 Election Recommendations
